Liz launched The Talbot Group in 2001, on the infamous September 11th. She had been in real estate and relocation since 1987, first as an agent, then in varying sales, project and account management roles. This broad spectrum of experience gave her a wide perspective and allowed her to customize her new company to fit her principle: families first.

Liz felt that in most relocation service companies, real estate is the driver, and the accompanying service to employees is mediocre. Therefore, relocation counseling became the core business at The Talbot Group, and “extraordinary. every day.” became its motto.

As a licensed Moving Broker and Real Estate Broker herself, Liz required her entire counseling staff to earn and maintain their real estate licenses in order to understand and confer peer to peer with agents around the country. This enabled her team to acquire an outstanding reputation for professionalism and responsiveness when meeting the legal and logistical challenges related to relocation.

Under Liz’s leadership, The Talbot Group received numerous awards and commendations for their excellent customer service and business acumen, including winning the coveted Business Champions Award by the MetroHartford Alliance in both 2005 and 2006.

Liz was an inspiration to many and a tireless advocate for women’s issues and women businessowners. She was a lifetime member of Leadership Greater Hartford, and a member of WPO, WBENC, ERC, CUPA, and HRACC.** She was a founding member of a Giving Circle in Hartford, volunteered with My Sisters Place and sat on the boards of the Cobb Montessori School and Junior Achievement. She was nominated both as Entrepreneur of the Year by NAWBO-CT and Remarkable Woman of the Year by the Hartford Business Journal.

Liz passed away in December 2009, but she remains a guiding spirit of The Talbot Group. Her energy, commitment to excellence, and her “never give up” attitude is infused into our relationships with our clients, our vendors, and our staff.

In Liz’s memory, we are striving to be extraordinary, every day.
